CNN host Chris Cuomo lost his mind when he was compared to “The Godfather’s” Fredo last night. In his hilarious overreaction, Cuomo compared the movie reference to the N-word. Unsurprisingly, Twitter reacted to the hyperbole accordingly. The reactions have followed some trends.
Some make self-deprecating jokes
Hey @ChrisCuomo, take it from me, “Fredo” isn’t the N word for Italians, it just means you’re the dumb brother. 😉 https://t.co/sgg6yF7UDO
— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) August 13, 2019
Calling an Italian man Fredo perpetuates cruel, unfair stereotypes, and if you ever do it my cousins and I will show up to your house in track suits and smash your car windows. https://t.co/4JAIfvcy8A

Little known ethnic slurs: Frodo is the n-word to hobbits.

Others point out the hypocrisy
“Who am I then, Fredo?” Cuomo asked during a 2010 radio interview when his brother was considering running for governor. #FakeNewsFredo strikes again!https://t.co/wYrksxYkP8

I can't believe the NYT would publish something so offensive! https://t.co/VtpPIozSOz

Welp, this is awkward. Here's a clip of @ananavarro calling @DonaldJTrumpJr "fredo" on…Chris Cuomo's show. https://t.co/gUMoyWvvEQ

Tweeters remind us of how offensive the comparison really is…
.@Alyssa_Milano said the MAGA hat is the KKK hood. @ChrisCuomo says “Fredo” is akin to the word used while whipping, hanging & severing the limbs of black slaves.
When will black America stop giving hysterical white liberals the authority to keep minimizing our history? #MAGA
— Candace Owens (@RealCandaceO) August 13, 2019
Did @ChrisCuomo just say that “Fredo” is to Italians what the N word is to black people? Th N word is a dehumanizing word used against blacks who endured years of oppression. Fredo is a term from The Godfather, referring to the dumb brother. Equivocating the two is pure racism.

… Or point out the absurdity
On the whole “Fredo is the N-word for Italians” thing, think John Mulaney said it best that if you’re comparing the badness of two words and you won’t even say one of them, that’s the worse word.
— Siraj Hashmi (@SirajAHashmi) August 13, 2019
People claiming Fredo is like the N-word have no problem spelling out and saying "Fredo" but would never spell out or say the actual N-word.

Others highlight Cuomo’s overreaction
Before you call Chris Cuomo "Fredo," be aware he has promised to…
1. Ruin your shit
2. Wreck your shit
3. Throw you down these stairs
And that's just a partial list…https://t.co/NHb91VRD5f pic.twitter.com/K56Sz9GyXg— Rolling Stone (@RollingStone) August 13, 2019
As is the White House’s interest in the story
Glad the White House is enjoying CNN's Fredo kerfuffle as much as the rest of us.

Finally, we are reminded of the more important things going on in the world:
