CNN redefined women as “individuals with a cervix” in a tweet reporting on updated recommendations for cervical cancer screenings from the American Cancer Society Friday.

“Individuals with a cervix are now recommended to start cervical cancers screening at 25 and continue through age 65, with HPV testing every five years as the preferred method of testing, according to a new guidelines released by the American Cancer Society,” CNN published.

The link to the story remained consistent in the tweet’s descriptor which much more simply could have identified the individuals in question as “women.”

CNN’s post caught viral attention online featuring mockery of its extreme attempt at inclusion, and erasure of women in the process.
