Nearly every major 2020 Democratic candidate has called on the Supreme Court’s newest justice, Brett Kavanaugh, to be impeached this week after the New York Times reported on fresh claims of previously unreported conduct, without any evidence to support the new allegations.
New York Times reporters Robin Pogrebin and Kate Kelly, out with a new book “The Education of Brett Kavanaugh: An Investigation,” attempt to re-litigate the Kavanaugh confirmation battle from last year with heightened focus a story that mirrors Deborah Ramirez’s account of when the two were classmates at Yale. The authors explore a new claim of harassment, of which the alleged victim and friends do not even recall the incident, and they admit in their new book that they found no evidence to support the claims made by Ramirez or Christine Blasey Ford.

Democrats, however, are refusing to give up on ousting Kavanaugh, pushing for the justice’s impeachment after the New York Times’ report, in which the authors’ only evidence for the claims is their “gut reaction” that they are true. Every major candidate competing for the Democratic presidential nomination, except for the race’s front-runner former Vice President Joe Biden, has endorsed Kavanaugh’s impeachment in light of the report.

“Confirmation is not exoneration, and these newest revelations are disturbing. Like the man who appointed him, Kavanaugh should be impeached,” Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren tweeted.
“Yesterday, we learned of another accusation against Brett Kavanaugh—one we didn’t find out about before he was confirmed because the Senate forced the F.B.I. to rush its investigation to save his nomination. We know he lied under oath. He should be impeached,” former Texas Rep. Beto O’Rourke chimed in on Twitter.

“I strongly oppose him, based on his views on the executive power, which will continue to haunt our country, as well as how he behaved, including the allegations that we are hearing more about today,” Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar said on ABC’s “This Week.” “My concern here is that the process was a sham. I don’t think you can look at impeachment hearings without getting the documents … and the attorney general is shielding documents.”
“This new allegation and additional corroborating evidence adds to a long list of reasons why Brett Kavanaugh should not be a Supreme Court justice,” Sen. Cory Booker wrote on Twitter. “I stand with survivors and countless other Americans in calling for impeachment proceedings to begin.”

South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg later called for impeachment as well, saying, “Kavanaugh should resign and if he doesn’t, the House should impeach him.”
