Federalist senior editor Mollie Hemingway appeared on Fox News’ “On the Record” with Brit Hume to discuss recent polls showing Donald Trump gaining in key swing states.

“What these polls show is what Americans have known since Hillary Clinton ran for president in 2008: that she is a terrifically awful candidate,” Hemingway said.  “And she is struggling, even with all the help that she is getting from the political and media establishment who are trying to drag her across the finish line.”

According to a recent Bloomberg poll in Ohio, Trump has a five-point lead over Clinton. Hemingway said these polls are in places where we can see a microcosm of the entire race, where the issues are really important to voters.

“When you look at immigration, economic security, national security—these are things people care about,” she said. “You’re seeing that shift in the polls as the underlying fundamentals of the race continue to be about things a little bit different than what the national conversation is.”
