The same companies that rushed post-Dobbs to subsidize abortion for employees and cut maternity leave because they believe childless women are more profitable than mothers are now scrambling to cover the cost of expensive assisted reproductive technology for their staff.

Walmart, which has previously touted ending life in the womb, recently promised to join a host of other notoriously woke companies such as Amazon in sponsoring procedures such as in vitro fertilization, serial embryo creation, embryo storage, egg freezing, surrogacy, and possibly adoption for its 1.6 million employees and some eligible family members.

“Walmart workers, their spouse or partner, and any adult dependent children who are enrolled in a Walmart-sponsored medical plan will each receive up to $20,000 in medical benefits towards fertility treatments in a lifetime,” the Associated Press reported.

According to fertility companies and business experts quoted by Axios, this expansion is supposed to “improve employee retention rates,” “attract new talent,” and “recruit and retain a ‘diverse workforce.’” In other words, big box stores like Walmart aren’t just offering these services to married men and women who cannot conceive naturally. They are also pandering to single individuals and LGBT couples who want to use the biological matter of other men and women and possibly the womb of another woman to create and birth children.

Despite the negative sociological implications this has on children, who studies say are better off being raised by a married, biological mother and father, Walmart specifically chose to partner with New-York based fertility startup Kindbody. According to the company’s own website, Kindbody gladly manufactures motherless and fatherless children for LGBT couples.

“We believe that everyone should have access to convenient, affordable fertility and family-building care,” the Kindbody website states. “Our services range from fertility treatments, including IVF and egg freezing, to wellness, and LGBTQ+ care.”

Companies like Walmart are now proudly paying between 1.3 percent and 6 percent more in medical expenses for the deliberate creation of children who will automatically grow up with physical, emotional, and educational disadvantages compared to their peers who were raised by their biological parents. Similarly, adults who use the commercial fertility industry to create children using donated gametes and a gestational carrier automatically manufacture a biological distance between themselves and the baby they commission.

Legal disputes over whether companies should pay for their employees’ reproductive technology are increasing. Earlier this month, a gay couple announced they would be suing the New York City government because, under the Big Apple’s current insurance policy, they did not qualify for fertility treatments such as in vitro fertilization and surrogacy.
