The Biden campaign unveiled a new tool this week to up is lagging online engagement allowing supporters to showcase their support for the former vice president. Users can insert an image of themselves into an internet graphic declaring themselves on “Team Joe.”
Here’s an example from the campaign:
Hey folks! Tell your family and friends that you’re on #TeamJoe by creating your very own Team Joe Avatar:

The new online avatar machine comes as Team Biden struggles to adapt to an entirely digital operation in the era of the Wuhan coronavirus forcing Biden off the trail. Team Biden however, is far behind the Trump campaign in the realm of digital politics.
While President Donald Trump enjoys a combined following of about 106 million followers across Facebook and Twitter, Biden only has 6.7 million. On YouTube, Biden doesn’t fare much better with only more than 35,000 subscribers compared to Trump’s 347,000.
In late March, Biden also launched a new podcast that has still yet to crack Apple’s top 100, granted there have only been four episodes.
As the campaign attempted to draw more eyes on the Internet over Trump’s daily White House press briefings, here’s how people responded on Twitter:
