NBC’s Chuck Todd, who moderated Wednesday night’s Las Vegas debate, was Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s landlord in Arlington, Virginia, according to six sources who spoke to Page Six.

Klobuchar, with her husband attorney John Bessler, rented a three-bedroom house owned by Todd. Page Six reports Klobuchar and her husband began renting the Virginia real estate in 2008 but are no longer living there as a second residence. It is unknown when the couple relocated.

The Minnesota paper Star Tribune reported in 2008 that Klobuchar and Bessler moved into the three-bedroom home from a smaller rental property to make space for family visits to the nation’s capital. The Tribune wrote that the two paid $3,200 per month in addition to utilities.

Todd has now moderated two Democratic presidential debates featuring Klobuchar on stage, including this week’s prime time event in Nevada, and did not disclose the relationship between the NBC television host and the candidate. According to Fox News, Todd has also interviewed Klobuchar 11 times, eight of which have occurred since March of last year.

The Klobuchar campaign confirmed to Fox that the Minnesota senator and her husband rented an Arlington home during her first few years working on Capitol Hill.

The Star Tribune reports Klobuchar still lived in her Minnesota residence in Minneapolis but that she spent “four to five days in D.C., with one family weekend each month in Arlington.”

It is common practice for members of the House and Senate to maintain a second home in Washington, D.C., though many lawmakers sleep in their offices on the Hill, citing high rents in the area. Democrats tried to ban the practice of office lodging last year.
