It’s no secret that Melania Trump’s signature look starts with her outerwear.

While the fashion critic at The Washington Post mocked Melania’s cream-colored Max Mara number as “cold,” the rest of us are just wondering how large a closet the First Lady actually has if she has room for so many stunning statement pieces of outerwear.

Is there anything more elegantly Christmassy than this Gabriela Hearst double-breasted trench the first lady wore to light the national Christmas tree last week?

Fashion Notes by @jxhnbinder @wearebreitbart : Melania Trump Lights Christmas Tree Wrapped in Gabriela Hearst Trench Coat First Lady Melania Trump was wrapped up for winter cold as she lit the National Christmas Tree alongside President Donald Trump on the National Mall’s Ellipse on Thursday evening. Melania Trump pressed the button to light the National Christmas Tree, wearing a Gabriela Hearst trench coat in a giant checkered print with a shade of red that resembled red wine. The coat was buttoned up and tied shut with a knot — almost as if it were a tightly wrapped Christmas present. Hearst is one of first daughter Ivanka Trump’s favorite designers to wear, though Mrs. Trump has worn her designs from time to time. Mrs. Trump is expected to host a number of Christmas parties at the White House, occasions were she has worn some of the most spectacular gowns. This might be among my favorite Melania looks of all time: a leather suede Burberry coat with matching brown suede slouchy boots.

More Christmas plaid (‘tis the season), but this time, the coat is Michael Kors and has a draped-cape comfortable style.

I’m a sucker for this sharply tailored navy Burberry coat with silver hardware, again with a perfectly matched pair of boots from Victoria Beckham. This is a classic coat that will never go out of style, but still makes a statement.

Melania famously wore baby blue to her husband’s inauguration, and she reprised the color with a double-breasted coat from Altuzarra.

When you meet a queen, dress like a queen. I’m not crazy about the hot pink pairing here (I prefer the first lady in a similarly hued coat with a buttery brown leather pencil skirt), but what a coat!

Did someone order a strong shoulder in a classic houndstooth print? Melania has just the Alexander McQueen coat in her closet.

Remember, these are all represent a mere selection of coats from just the last several weeks. The first lady only occasionally repeats a statement topper. Only some fashion intern somewhere with an abacus knows the true total number of spectacular coats in Melania’s closet, or the square footage needed to house them.

Perhaps the Washington Post fashion critic could devote some time to counting them.
