“When the [Dobbs] decision was leaked, almost immediately you had massive protests — not just at the Supreme Court, but also firebombings of pro-life clinics and churches, and you had protests at the homes of the five justices who had voted to overturn Roe,” Federalist Editor-in-Chief Mollie Hemingway recounted when sharing details of her new book, Alito: The Justice Who Reshaped the Supreme Court and Restored the Constitution. “Even though there were five justices willing to overturn Roe … if one of them were killed, in fact, Roe would not have been overturned.”
Hemingway shares how the liberal justices on the court went on to slow-walk the final release of the decision, even amid the threats, including an explosive report that Justice Kagan “screamed” at Justice Breyer “not to accommodate … getting that dissent done, so that the [Dobbs] decision could be released.”
