President Joe Biden has repeatedly denied discussing his son’s foreign business, but newly released testimony further suggests the former Vice President was involved with nearly all of Hunter Biden’s overseas wheeling and dealings, including meeting the chairman of a Chinese Communist Party-linked energy company that paid Biden family associates millions of dollars.
Former Biden family associate Rob Walker confirmed in closed-door testimony to the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees this month that Joe “stopped by” a 2017 lunch “at the Four Seasons in a restaurant in a private room” to talk with CEFC Chairman Ye Jianming and other CEFC associates.
The purpose of the meeting, Walker claimed, was to identify “ways we could work together” because, at the time, Hunter’s firm and CEFC had yet to secure a “structured deal.”
“The former vice president was not there the entire time. He was there maybe 10 minutes,” Walker said. “He spoke nice, you know, normal pleasantries. I think he probably did most of the talking and then left.”
Hunter, Walker, James Gilliar, and James Biden began “pursuing business with CEFC” in early 2016 while Joe was still in office.
It wasn’t until after Joe’s appearance at the Four Seasons gathering close to March 2017, however, that their firm Robinson Walker LLC received $3 million from the CEFC entity State Energy HK Limited, $1,065,000 of which was wired to various Biden bank accounts.
“Rob Walker told investigators Hunter asked him to send incremental payments to various Biden accounts, including Hallie Biden and James Biden, who were not affiliated with the CEFC deal,” the Oversight Committee noted.
Walker also admitted that payments from Romanian businessman Gabriel Popoviciu to the Bidens and their associates were cut off right after Biden’s second VP term ended.
Despite testifying about Joe’s attendance at the CEFC meeting, Walker refused to admit that Joe was involved in any of Hunter’s dealings. He did, however, corroborate several other Biden family associates’ and even Hunter’s claims that the Biden last name and brand are what “would probably get people in the door.”
Walker, Gilliar, Joe’s brother, and Hunter all agreed to use Hunter’s letterhead to initially contact CEFC Director Jian Jun Zang about striking an agreement in early 2016 because they believed it would be received better by the CCP-linked boss.
“It had just seemed—if a U.S. entity was going to have a foreign national represent them, It would probably make more sense to come from Hunter versus me,” Walker said.
“Because he’s the son of the vice president at the time, correct?” one investigator pressed.
“He is the son of a vice president at the time, yes,” Walker replied.
There is plenty of evidence that Joe met with “nearly every foreign national who funneled money to his son, including Russian oligarch Yelena Baturina, Romanian oligarch Kenes Rakishev, Burisma’s corporate secretary Vadym Pozharsky, Jonathan Li of BHR, and CEFC Chairman Ye Jianming.” Yet, during the October 2020 presidential debate, Biden specifically claimed Hunter “has not made money in terms of this thing about — what are you talking about — China.”
The New York Post first reported Joe’s involvement in the Biden family business a few weeks before the 2020 election. The publication uncovered emails from Hunter’s abandoned laptop detailing how the younger Biden pursued business deals with one of China’s largest energy companies in an attempt to cash in “for me and my family.” The emails named a “big guy,” then-Vice President Joe, who would receive a 10 percent cut of any of the money Hunter raked in from the CEFC deal.
An FBI document written by a highly credible confidential human source, bank records, receipts, whistleblower testimony, and White House visitor logs further corroborate that the Bidens used Joe’s political status to exchange policy favors for millions of dollars from foreign oligarchs.
