Evidence suggests that President Joe Biden could be the most compromised and corrupt president in recent history, which has prompted House Republicans to take swift action against the commander-in-chief and his allies in the bureaucracy. Republican leadership in the Senate, however, appears less than interested in holding Biden and his corrupt cronies accountable.
Ever since Republicans took back the House of Representatives, they’ve devoted themselves to exposing all of the ways Joe, Hunter, and other members of the Biden bloodline profited off of an international pay-to-play scandal. Their efforts were not in vain.
Chairmen like Rep. Jim Jordan of the Judiciary Committee and James Comer of the Oversight Committee uncovered bank records, threatened FBI Director Christopher Wray with contempt over his agency’s lack of cooperation, hosted committee hearings, and recorded testimony from several whistleblowers and Biden business associates that contribute to the mounting case against POTUS’s standing to lead the nation.
Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy not only supported his colleagues as they revealed more details of Biden’s influence-peddling scheme, but he plans to use the information to fuel a presidential impeachment inquiry.
The same urgency can’t be found across the Capitol in the upper chamber. Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley may have thrown himself headfirst into digging up the Department of Justice, FBI, and president’s malfeasance, but Senate GOP leadership has shown little to no interest in acting on the bombshells.
In July alone, Grassley bypassed the FBI’s stonewalling to release the damning document detailing how Biden fired a Ukrainian prosecutor tasked with investigating the energy company his son was a board member of in exchange for millions of dollars. Grassley also demanded a probe into the IRS’s retaliation against whistleblowers who spoke up about the agency’s misconduct in the Hunter tax probe and warned the DOJ and FBI against punishing the whistleblowers who shared information about the Biden bribery scheme.
Information like this should spark senators’ calls for the impeachment of Biden or Attorney General Merrick Garland. In the least, inquiries and further investigation of the Biden family corruption claims and corroboration should be bubbling to the surface.
Instead, Republicans like Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell are silent.
Every new piece of evidence pointing to the duplicity of the Bidens comes with a flood of tweets and statements from House Republicans amplifying the news, condemning the corruption, and promising action. Grassley’s monumental findings, even over just the last few weeks, however, receive no attention from his colleagues in the Senate.
The press release banks and Twitter feeds of McConnell, Republican Whip John Thune, GOP Conference Chair John Barrasso, GOP Policy Committee Chairwoman Joni Ernst, Vice Chairwoman of the Senate Republican Conference Shelley Moore Capito, and Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman Steve Daines were instead dominated with news about the National Defense Authorization Act, Democrats’ latest attack on the integrity of the Supreme Court, and Bidenflation.
Unfortunately, the Senate GOP’s complacency towards an issue that is gaining traction with their constituents is not new. As Federalist Western Correspondent Tristan Justice recently demonstrated, Republican senators on leadership, such as McConnell, routinely put their Democrat-adjacent political agenda above the priorities of their voters.
When the corrupt DOJ executed a partisan raid on Trump’s Florida home, it took more than 24 hours for all of Senate GOP leadership, except Sen. Rick Scott, to condemn it. McConnell eventually issued a weak statement.
“The country deserves a thorough and immediate explanation of what led to the events of Monday,” McConnell said. “Attorney General Garland and the Department of Justice should already have provided answers to the American people and must do so immediately.”
Less than one year later, McConnell publicly contradicted Americans’ and Republicans’ calls to defund the DOJ and FBI with a call to “spend more on law enforcement.”
“I think I can pretty safely say that I’ve not met any Republicans in Congress who want to spend less on law enforcement,” McConnell said.
Former President Donald Trump suggested at a rally in Pennsylvania last weekend that any Senate Republicans who fail to meet the moment on Biden family corruption deserve to lose their seat.
“They sit back, and they say, ‘We have other priorities, we have to look at other things,'” Trump said. “Any Republican that doesn’t act on Democrat fraud should be immediately primaried. Get out.”
He’s right. If Republicans can’t even bother to mention Biden’s role in an international influence-peddling scheme that puts our national security in jeopardy, much less hold him accountable for it, they deserve to lose the trust and votes of Americans.
