Brand new polling from Quinnipiac University shows sky-high disapproval of President Joe Biden’s presidency thus far.
While Democrats overwhelmingly (80 percent) approve of the president and Republicans overwhelmingly (94 percent) disapprove, Biden’s popularity with independents has slipped to a 32 percent approval rating.
Notably, disapproval among Americans for Biden’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic rose to 50 percent which puts a damper on the White House’s repeated rhetoric promising to beat the virus and their political campaign to push booster shots and vaccine mandates.
Biden’s campaign team largely relied on his plan to combat COVID to get him through the election but now, just nine months into his tenure in the White House, he’s struggling to win over Americans who are becoming more skeptical of his virus panic porn. As Quinnipiac notes, “nearly 7 in 10 (68 – 30 percent) of Americans with kids under the age of 18 say they do not think that students should be required to receive a COVID-19 vaccine once students of all ages are eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine.”
As a whole, Americans tend to disapprove of Biden’s track record so far and Democrats are recognizing it. Whether it’s his approach to the economy, which 55 percent of Americans disapprove of, or his handling of the U.S. military following the Afghanistan crisis, which 58 percent of Americans disapprove of, a majority of respondents were clear that they don’t like what the president is doing.
More than half (54 percent) of respondents also said they are unhappy with his approach to taxes. Biden’s disapproval rating when it comes to immigration issues and the situation at the Mexican border climbs even higher to 67 percent.
When it comes to Biden as a person, nearly half (48 percent) of those polled said they don’t believe the president cares about average Americans, a number which climbed by more than 10 points since April. Fifty percent of respondents also said they don’t think Biden is honest, up 8 points from April, while 56 percent of those polled said he doesn’t have good leadership skills, up 12 points since April.
This high disapproval follows new polling from Politico and the Morning Consult that suggests, despite Biden and Democrats worked feverishly to ensure that the federal government (and the taxpayers funding it) would line the pockets of American families via $300 checks for each child, less than half (47 percent) of Americans are attributing their payments to Democrats and only 38 percent of those polled credited the president for giving them monthly cash.
