How Parents Are Holding Schools Accountable For Politicizing Education

Laura Zorc explains how to hold school boards accountable for allowing CRT, radical gender theory, and politically motivated mask mandates in classrooms.

On this episode of “The Federalist Radio Hour,” Laura Zorc, director of education reform at FreedomWorks and executive director at Building Education for Students Together, joins Culture Editor Emily Jashinsky to discuss how parents can mobilize to hold their school boards accountable for allowing racist curriculum, radical gender theory, and politically motivated mask mandates in classrooms.

“I think one of the biggest complaints right now, and it’s very broad, is that parents realize that they don’t have parental rights in education,” Zorc explained. “Just because as parents we decide to send our children to a … government public school, that does not mean as soon as they walk into that front door that we as parents hand over our rights to the government. And that is what we’re seeing.”

Parents in states all across the country, Zorc said, are fighting to have a say in their children’s education.

“I see the same thing that happened with Common Core state standards. Us parents across the country, we’re going to our school board meetings and we’re speaking out. We are going to our legislators and we’re saying, ‘These are the experts,’ and they’re listening to us. And I’m seeing the same thing happen again with critical race theory. It’s just that now, now we’re ready. Now we’re organizing. We’re getting empowered, and we’re ready to take on this battle,” Zorc said.
