History is filled with false prophets and their faithful followers, but none quite like Charles Manson and his “family.” The madman who psychotically identified as a rockstar messiah was the wicked ring leader of a murderous cult that, in 1969, cut a gaping hole into the facade of the free love and peace ‘60s.
The Tate-LaBianca murders were brutal by any standard. Manson, with his sociopathic charisma and a ready supply of hard drugs, convinced the young women of his commune to be the violent instruments of his twisted race war prophesy. They viciously killed actress Sharon Tate and her unborn baby and four guests at her Los Angeles estate in the shadow of Beverly Hills. A day later, the “family” murdered a wealthy couple, Leno and Rosemary LaBianca, in their Los Angeles home.
Perhaps most shocking is how much Manson’s assassins relished their macabre work — and how the radical left celebrated it.
As Yogi Berra liked to say, when it comes to the far-left, it’s deja vu all over again.
“Dig it, first they killed those pigs, then they ate dinner in the same room with them, then they even shoved a fork into a victim’s stomach. Wild!” Bernardine Dohrn, a leader of the Weather Underground, the Marxist militant/terrorist successor of the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), reportedly said at the time of the Manson family murders. Dohrn, a “smart cheerleader” from a wealthy Milwaukee suburb before joining the government building-bombing radical movement, spent 11 years as a fugitive, a few of those on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted list, NPR reported. She and her foot soldiers had declared war on the United States of America.
Dohrn and husband Bill Ayers, would later turn themselves in, serve very little time in prison (or none at all), and enjoyed long academic careers at Northwestern University and the University of Illinois at Chicago. And they became big boosters of Barack Hussein Obama.
The Weather Underground is back with a vengeance — at least in spirit. And the left’s lust for political violence, its hero-worship of assassins, has exploded in the Trump era — as President Donald Trump can attest to.
Meet ‘The Mangionistas’
As alleged cold-blooded killer Luigi Mangione appeared in Manhattan Criminal Court on Monday, three of his biggest groupies “covered” the hearing. Abril Rios, Ashley Rojas, and Lena Weissbrot, the self-styled “Mangionistas” incredibly received press passes from the office of their good Marxist friend, New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
The fangirls used their coveted press access to justify homicide for the good of their political cause and to celebrate the December 2024 murder of Brian Thompson, CEO of UnitedHealthcare.
“F— Brian Thompson, I don’t give a flying f— he died,” Rojas told the New York Daily News in a now-viral video.
“His children are better off without him,” Weissbrot heartlessly told reporters outside the court. “They need to learn to not be like their dad — and enjoy the blood money.”
Interestingly, Rios zealously served in the volunteer campaign cult for Mamdani known as “Hot Girls for Zohran.” The influencer and model works as a social media manager for Ali Design & Consulting Services in New York, according to her LinkedIn account. The leftist digital marketing firm boasts that it has “a passion for justice, equity, and inclusion.” Its clients include the Unity & Justice Fund, which contributed $100,000 to Mamdani’s super PAC, according to the California Globe. The Unity & Justice Fund is the political fundraising arm of the Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a nonprofit organization with alleged ties to Hamas, according to InfluenceWatch.
Rios told reporter Vicky Ward last November following Mamdani’s mayoral victory that Hot Girls for Zohran gave her a sense of purpose that her hundreds of thousands of social media followers didn’t.
“I just feel like being around people that are so hopeful and joyous about politics is refreshing and it changed my outlook,” she said.
Rios and her fellow Mangione fangirls have also found joy in a family’s devastating loss, insisting that Thompson was “responsible for more deaths than Osama bin Laden.”
‘Campus Cult’
It should come as little surprise then that Rios on her Substack describes herself as “female rage encourager, abolitionist, and socialist fascism resister weaponizing my master’s degree.”
And such liberals afflicted with severe cases of Trump Derangement Syndrome are filled with rage — and justify violence.
A YouGov poll taken in the wake of the assassination of conservative lion Charlie Kirk found 25 percent of respondents who identified as “very liberal” said violence is sometimes an acceptable means to a political end. About the same percentage said feeling joy about the deaths of political opponents is just fine.
And taxpayer-funded universities are mass producers of radicals, some bent on violence to achieve their left-wing agenda. Or as Joe Rogan once called U.S. higher education, “cult camps.” Education systems that reward promoters of political violence with big-salary jobs do not have the best interest of their students or their country at heart.
Mangione’s fan club members are steeped in indoctrination. Weissbrot, a Florida State University grad, received a Fulbright Fellowship to focus on “music and social activism, music in learning, music and the community, and musical performance.”
Her social activism was on full display outside the court.
“Our government has abandoned us,” Weissbrot said in a video posted on Instagram. “We are their cattle. They siphon our life force. We’re done. And the American people need to get on the same page. Otherwise, you know, continue your death march into the meat grinder for the billionaire class.”
The cult is hopping.
