Federalist Publisher Ben Domenech said Thursday that while Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden might not be the one pushing to tear down monuments, rather, the former vice president has illustrated a willingness to be a push over.
“The real critique of Joe Biden isn’t that he’s going to tear down the Washington Monument, it’s that he’s too weak to stand up to the people within his coalition who want to do exactly that,” Domenech said on “Fox and Friends.”
Domenech’s point comes on the heels of a Washington D.C. commission established by Democrat Mayor Muriel Bowser publishing a report Tuesday calling on prominent memorials to the nation’s founders be “removed, renamed, or contextualized.” Figures the report recommends removing include Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and Benjamin Franklin, whose historical lives failed to meet modern standards of social justice.
“If you look at any historical figure of any kind of an earlier part of our history, guess what,” Domenech said. “Ben Franklin [is] not really known for being ahead of the curve when it comes to LGBT issues. And so basically no one can meet this standard that DC has set up.”
