WATCH: Shaq Promises Not To Teach Kobe Bryant’s Daughters His Free Throw Technique

Lakers legend Shaquille O’Neal cracked a memorable joke at his own expense during a speech at Kobe Bryant’s memorial service on Monday, earning some well-deserved laughter from the packed Staples Center.

Addressing his departed teammate and friend, O’Neal said it was now the time to “continue your legacy.”

“Just know that we got your back, little brother,” he promised.

“I’ll look after things down here. I’ll be sure to teach Natalia, Bianka, and baby Capri all your moves,” pledged O’Neal. “And I promise I will not teach them my free throw techniques.” The star-studded audience erupted in laughter.

“For now,” Shaq continued, “I take comfort in the fact that as we speak Kobe and Gigi are holding hands, walking to the nearest basketball court.”

O’Neal concluded his remarks by saying, “Kobe, you’re heaven’s MVP, I love you, my man, ’till we meet again.”

“Rest in peace, Kobe,” O’Neal finished.
