Anonymous sources allegedly told CNN Monday that Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders told Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren that a woman can’t beat President Donald Trump in November.
CNN reports that four people confirmed Sanders’ statement to Warren, including two people Warren allegedly spoke with directly after the meeting and two others familiar with the conversation that took place at Warren’s Washington D.C. apartment in December 2018 before the two senators had officially entered the presidential contest.
Sanders denied the comments to CNN.
“It is ludicrous to believe that at the same meeting where Elizabeth Warren told me she was going to run for president, I would tell her that a women couldn’t win,” Sanders said in a statement.
It’s sad that, three weeks before the Iowa caucus and a year after that private conversation, staff who weren’t in the room are lying about what happened. What I did say that night was that Donald Trump is a sexist, a racist and a liar who would weaponize whatever he could. Do I believe a woman can win in 2020? Of course! After all, Hillary Clinton beat Donald Trump by 3 million votes in 2016.
Indeed, Sanders has previously made the case that a woman could successfully capture the White House. In fact, Sanders made the argument 32 years ago in 1988.
“The real issue is not whether you’re black or white, whether you’re a woman or a man. In my view, a woman could be elected president of the United States,” Sanders said. “Are you on the side of workers and poor people? Or are you on the side of big money and the corporations?”

Warren has a long track record of making false claims to advance her own interests.
It’s been well documented that for decades Warren joined the likes of Rachel Dolezal and lied about her Heritage claiming to be native American to further pursue her legal career through affirmative action. Warren went so far as to contribute recipes to an Indian cook book titled “Pow Wow Chow” and identified herself as Cherokee under each.
In November, Warren lied about sending her kids to public school. Warren told a school choice activist that she sent her kids to public institutions but records show that Warren sent her son to private schools in Texas and Pennsylvania.
Last week, Warren continued to tell the debunked tale of her being let go from her first teaching job for being “visibly pregnant.”
“I probably would be doing that work today but… by the end of the 1st year, I was visibly pregnant, & the principal did what principals did in those days — wished me luck & hired someone else,” Warren told voters at a campaign stop in Dover, New Hampshire.

County records uncovered by the Washington Free Beacon in October however, show that the Riverdale Board of Education where Warren taught under actually unanimously approved the extension of Warren’s teaching contract for a second year.
The two progressive senators have refrained from engaging each other in negative attacks throughout the Democratic primary. With the new allegations from sources close to Warren however, the truce between the two socialist senators tag-teaming their way through previous debates is likely to change this week with the next primetime event on Tuesday in Des Moines, Iowa.
Tuesday night’s event will be the last debate until voters cast the first votes of the 2020 election at the Iowa caucuses slated to be held on Feb. 3.
Warren and Sanders will appear on stage with former Vice President Joe Biden, former South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar, and businessman Tom Steyer at Drake University moderated by CNN and the Des Moines Register.
