After one month in a Swedish jail, American rapper A$AP Rocky and two members of his “crew” have been freed. Rocky and his crew are free to return home to the United States until the outcome of their trial is decided.
After the video of Rocky and his crew getting into a brawl went viral, President Trump took to Twitter to dispute the matter with the Swedish prime minister.
“Very disappointed in Prime Minister Stefan Löfven for being unable to act,” Trump tweeted. “Sweden has let our African American Community down in the United States. I watched the tapes of A$Ap Rocky, and he was being followed and harassed by troublemakers. Treat Americans fairly!”
In a second tweet, Trump said, “Give A$AP Rocky his FREEDOM. We do so much for Sweden but it doesn’t seem to work the other way around. Sweden should focus on its real crime problem!”
While Trump does not personally know A$AP Rocky, Trump administration ally Kanye West brought the matter to Trump’s attention. Kim Kardashian also played an active role, along with Mike Pompeo, Jared Kushner, Melania Trump, and many more. Kardashian thanked the Trump administration on Twitter.
“Thank you @realDonaldTrump, @SecPompeo, Jared Kushner & everyone involved with the efforts to Free ASAP Rocky & his two friends,” Kardashian tweeted. “Your commitment to justice reform is so appreciated.”
The outcome of Rocky and crew’s trial will be delivered on August 14.
