The Movies President Ronald Reagan Watched

Mark Weinberg discusses the relationship presidents have with media, and why Hollywood held a special place in the Reagan presidency.

Mark Weinberg is a former special advisor and press secretary to President Ronald Reagan. His new book, “Movie Nights with The Reagans: A Memoir” recollects the movies watched at Camp David with Ronald and Nancy Reagan, and gives a behind-the-scenes look at the Reagan presidency.

“It’s a side of the Reagan’s that nobody has seen before,” Weinberg said. “Movies to the Reagan’s were central. That’s where they met each other. That’s where their career began. It’s one of the things that they enjoyed most to do on the weekends… It was the language they spoke.”
