In an interview on Thursday, Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-Calif.) said it’s time for top Democrats—namely Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Chuck Schumer—to step down from their roles as leaders in Congress.
“We have a lot of talent on the bench and we really need to develop that talent and give people opportunity,” she said. “I don’t think there’s just one leader in the Democratic Party. I think there are many people who try to move the country in the right direction.”

When asked if the Democratic Party should keep the same leaders after the upcoming midterm elections, Sanchez said no.
“I do think we have this real breadth and depth of talent within our caucus and I do think it’s time to pass the torch to a new generation of leaders and I want to be apart of that transition,” she said. “I would really like to see that change.”
