“If you look at the data, Democrats have a historically narrow margin of favorability over Republicans compared to midterm elections like 2018 or 2006, when there was a war going on — you saw double-digit leads for Democrats, and right now you’re seeing single-digit leads,” The Federalist’s Brianna Lyman said on Fox News at Night. “And I think a big reason for that … is because the Democrat brand is so politically toxic. They have not changed any of the positions on the policies that they lost on in 2024. In fact, they dug their heels in now.”
“You see it with people like Abigail Spanberger, who realizes the toxicity because she purposely campaigned as a centrist and a moderate, because she knew if she campaigned as a true Democrat (like she governs as), she would have lost.”
