Ted Cruz Dunks On Austere Leftists Who Don’t Understand Satire

“I wish this was parody,” Cruz said, implicitly referring to the abrupt firing of former Disney “Mandalorian” actress Gina Carano.

Once again, the supposedly wise Democratic ruling class has misunderstood a reference by Sen. Ted Cruz. On Sunday, the Texas Republican quote-tweeted an article published on the satire site The Babylon Bee, titled “Disney Posts Job Ad Looking For Strong, Fierce Women Who Are Also Obedient, Submissive, And Docile.”

“I wish this was parody,” Cruz said, implicitly referring to the abrupt firing of former Disney “Mandalorian” actress Gina Carano.

The leftist blue checkmarks were quick to show their lack of comprehension of the simple yet witty Cruz tweet.

“I wish this was parody. Only two possibilities: this “journalist” is exceptionally dim witted. Or, deliberately deceptive (counting on other angry lefties to be dim witted),” Cruz said after reading the flurry of misinterpreted responses to his quote-tweet.

Newsweek ran a piece Monday morning showing its lack of clarity on the Cruz reference to Carano’s firing, appearing entirely unaware of the senator’s obvious intentions, digging back through Cruz’s Twitter history and writing:
Cruz previously shared a post from the Babylon Bee in September 2020, with the headline: “Little-Known Judge Tedina Cruzette Throws Hat In Ring For Trump’s SCOTUS Consideration.”
The senator appeared to acknowledge the satirical nature of the post and commented: “Dark-horse candidate. I have no idea who this is.”
But, Cruz is not the only GOP politician to share stories from the conservative fake news outlet, with former President Donald Trump retweeting its articles for his millions of followers to see.

“Why do you have to explain irony to Newsweek?” Cruz tweeted in response to the article, which was just further evidence of the ridiculous nature of the situation kicked off by satire.
