Florida’s Democrat Senate Candidate ‘Absolutely’ Supports Packing SCOTUS

Is packing the Supreme Court with left-wing activists an official policy position of the Democrat Party? It’s a question worth asking given the number of party candidates throwing their support behind the radical proposal this election cycle.

Florida Senate candidate Angie Nixon became the latest Democrat to publicly back court-packing on Friday. Speaking with Politico’s Dasha Burns, the Sunshine State socialist said she would “absolutely” support efforts to expand the high court should her party take control of Congress this fall.

“Would you support expanding the Supreme Court?” Burns asked.

“Absolutely,” Nixon replied. “And putting term limits on them.”

The remarks appear to be one of the first instances in which Nixon has publicly called for packing the Supreme Court during her Senate run. The DSA-tied candidate did not respond to The Federalist’s comment request last week on whether she supports increasing the court’s size.

Nixon’s support for term limits on justices, however, is well known. Her campaign website says that she backs “Term limits and ethics reform for the Supreme Court, including binding ethics rules for all federal judges.” Democrats’ disingenuous “ethics” obsession stems from left-wing propaganda firms like ProPublica, which have spent the past several years running dishonest hit jobs against the court’s conservative justices.

Nixon’s support for court-packing generated quick pushback from her GOP opponent and Sen. Ashley Moody’s campaign. A spokesman for the Florida Republican told The Federalist that Nixon’s position demonstrates why “she should be nowhere near power.”

“Socialist Angie Nixon’s plan to pack the court falls directly in line with what every one of her Socialist Squad supporters have called for and would destroy the integrity of the highest court in the land,” Moody spokesman Cameron Gambini said.

Nixon is hardly the only Democrat Senate candidate to get on board with her party’s scheme to pack SCOTUS.

Alaska’s Mary Peltola, Michigan’s Abdul El-Sayed, and Minnesota’s Peggy Flanagan have all voiced support for the radical proposal. Other candidates, such as Georgia’s Jon Ossoff, Maine’s Troy Jackson, and Texas’ James Talarico, have either indicated their openness to court-packing or refused to “rule [it] out.”

Iowa’s Josh Turek and Kansas’ Adam Hamilton have both espoused support for term limits on Supreme Court justices. Neither candidate responded to The Federalist’s previous comment requests on whether they support packing the high court. North Carolina’s Roy Cooper and Ohio’s Sherrod Brown similarly did not respond to such inquiries.

Plans to pack the Supreme Court have generated widespread support among Democrat Party leaders throughout the past year.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries has all but promised Democrats will move on such a policy if they retake trifecta control of the federal government. The New York leftist told NBC News in August that he intends to put court-packing supporters on the House Judiciary Committee in charge of what he called “dramatic Supreme Court reform.”

Potential 2028 presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Pete Buttigieg have also backed court-packing in recent months.
