On a Monday segment of “The Ingraham Angle,” Rep. Devin Nunes ridiculed leftist media outlets for failing to retract debunked information about the Capitol breach, and the Democratic Party’s doctoring of evidence in the trial.
“For the most part, most Americans did not see how badly the Democrats from the House were destroyed in the Senate — about how they doctored evidence, how they falsified evidence,” Nunes said. “This was presented to the U.S. Senate. This is not normal behavior in the course of the history of the United States of America. But it’s become the norm over the last five years, as we’ve seen gone from a Russia hoax, to a fake impeachment. This was really a debacle, Laura. I don’t think everybody understands.”
The Democrats notably presented a doctored video of former President Trump’s speech at the Capitol. It was heavily edited to match the narrative they desired to create: that Trump incited a riot, even though it began 20 minutes before he even started speaking.

Nunes and Ingraham noted media outlets that purport to tell the truth have yet to retract articles that do not mention that Democrats doctored the video of Trump to make his speech look dangerous.
The New York Times, among dozens of others, published an article on Feb. 10 that does not acknowledge the video is a fabrication. Instead, it says:
Even after watching a graphic 13-minute video that depicted the Capitol siege in unflinching detail, 44 of the Senate’s 50 Republican senators voted yesterday (unsuccessfully) to throw out the trial. To achieve a conviction, the managers will need to persuade at least 11 of those 44 to turn against the president.
An erroneous article by Politico is still up that reads “Trump’s second impeachment opens with haunting video of Jan. 6 riots.”
The Democratic prosecution in the impeachment proceedings also doctored a tweet by Jennifer Lynn Lawrence, adding a verified blue checkmark that Lynn does not have on her account.
“I’ve never been verified on Twitter,” Lawrence said, “so why did my Tweet used in the fact-free impeachment include a verification badge? I’m assuming Democrats faked it like they are faking the whole case.”

Nunes and Ingraham also discussed the oddity with the U.S. military remaining in Washington, D.C., for reasons yet unclear, while security was significantly lacking on the day of the breach.
“They don’t need to be at the U.S. Capitol. The fact of the matter is the Guard could have been called in, fences should have been put up before January 6. We had the intelligence in order to do that,” Nunes said. “The FBI knew, the FBI relayed that to the Capitol police. But now moving forward, what I can tell you is, I haven’t seen any credible information whatsoever that we would need all the fencing and all the guardsmen that are still there. They need to go home.”
Federalist senior editor Mollie Hemingway appeared on Fox News on Feb. 9 and made a similar point concerning the message we are sending Americans by occupying our nation’s capital with military troops.
“I don’t think people realize how horrifying it is for many people in the country to see their Capitol surrounded by troops, while the previous president is paraded in front of cameras for a show trial. This is something that you think of as banana republic or Third World-country stuff. If it was happening in Russia, you would say that the regime is very seriously threatened,” Hemingway said.
As first reported by The Washington Examiner, about 6,000 troops are currently sleeping at six separate high-end Georgetown hotels. The Department of Defense announced that the occupation of D.C. until March 15 will cost $483 million.
