James Comey’s social media presence is notoriously terrible. It’s the kind of terrible where he thinks it’s great, but it actually induces a crippling second-hand embarrassment for everyone else unfortunate enough to catch a glimpse.
Things went from bad to worse on Thursday. President Trump tweeted a comparison between the treatment Roger Stone and Comey have received.
“They say Roger Stone lied to Congress.” @CNN OH, I see, but so did Comey (and he also leaked classified information, for which almost everyone, other than Crooked Hillary Clinton, goes to jail for a long time), and so did Andy McCabe, who also lied to the FBI! FAIRNESS?

Ever the at-heart millennial, Comey responded with a GIF from Mariah Carey’s “Obsessed” video, a masterpiece the former FBI director has almost certainly never seen. “Why are you so obsessed with me?” the GIF text reads.

Used correctly, “Why are you so obsessed with me?” is a devastating insult. But Comey is not Regina George. (If anything, he’s Mrs. George.) He is someone who has a “fantasy” about deleting his Twitter account, but posts blurry pop culture GIFs he doesn’t understand instead. He should stick to posting pictures of trees.
