A new filing in the case United States v. Avenatti shows an arrest warrant has been issued for former Stormy Daniels lawyer Michael Avenatti. An image shows Avenatti being led out of the court by federal agents while he attended a hearing at the State Bar of California in Los Angeles.
Avenatti was at the State Bar of California for a disciplinary hearing for allegedly doctoring a document used to scam a client out of $840,000. Avenatti was allegedly funneling this money from his client for his personal use.
U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman submitted a letter to a New York court, which is also in trial with Avenatti, indicating the Central District of California court would issue an arrest warrant for Avenatti.
The Government respectfully writes to inform the Court that, late this afternoon, the Government was informed by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California that it had requested, on an ex parte basis, for the United States District Court for the Central District of California to issue an arrest warrant or an order to show cause with respect to potential violations of the conditions of pretrial release by defendant Michael Avenatti in connection with his case pending in that district.
