During a campaign visit to a nursing home, presidential candidate Kamala Harris was pulled aside by an elderly woman who takes a dim view of Democrats’ proposals to socialize U.S. health care. In the video, the woman tells Harris to “leave our health-care system alone.”
Woman: “Can I ask you a question?”
Harris: “Yes, of course.”
Woman: “I understand that you are advocating health care for everyone.”
Harris: “Yes, ma’am.”
Woman: “Who’s going to pay for it?”
Harris: “Well, we’re gonna pay for it because, right now, let me tell you something, we’re all paying for health care and it’s in the emergency room.”
Woman: “No we’re not. No we’re not. Leave our health-care system alone. We don’t want you to mess with it.
Harris: “Okay, I don’t intend to mess with it.”
I don't want to overstate this, but the video of Kamala Harris getting owned at the nursing home is the greatest thing that has ever happened or will ever happen.

Throughout the conversation, Harris left her hands on her knees and squatted down to the woman’s level in a condescending manner. Harris also spoke to the woman as if she were an infant. Many have called her tone offensive and patronizing.
Harris also lied right to the woman’s face. She said, “I don’t intend to mess with” Americans’ health care, reiterating that later in the video. Yet her twist on socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders’ “Medicare for All” plan would disadvantage private health insurance and ultimately lead to its demise, as analyst Chris Jacobs explains here. The proposal would dramatically change U.S. health care.
After the second round of Democratic debates, Harris’ polling numbers slipped. They were around 14 percent prior to the debate and now at approximately 8 percent..
