Senior Editors Mollie Hemingway and David Harsanyi talk through the history of guns in America on this episode of The Federalist Radio Hour. They discuss which guns are considered the most significant (the Kentucky Rifle, the AR-15, etc.) and why other firearms didn’t make the list.

“The [Kentucky rifle] was the first uniquely American invention, a tool, that was made here in the early 1600’s,” Harsanyi said. “It’s closely defined with American mythology…Daniel Boone, Lewis and Clark, people who went out into the West used it.”

Harsanyi’s new book is, “First Freedom: A Ride Through America’s Enduring History with the Gun.”
