President Donald Trump’s longtime former attorney Michael Cohen has pled guilty to eight criminal counts, including five counts of tax evasion, one count of bank fraud, and two illegal campaign finance contributions.

In a televised press conference outside of the Manhattan federal court, Deputy U.S. Attorney Robert Khuzami said Cohen admitted he made an illegal campaign contribution on Oct. 27, 2016 “in coordination and at the direction of a candidate for federal office.” He did not identify the candidate by name.

In the charging documents filed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York are details of how Trump’s former personal attorney made several payments to several women to buy their silence.
