Cathy Young Discusses Feminists, Socialism, And The Enlightenment On Federalist Radio

Journalist Cathy Young weighs in on topical debates like The Enlightenment’s role in racism and whether feminism is good for women.

Cathy Young is a journalist who writes at various outlets such as Reason, Newsday, and The Forward. She joins Ben Domenech on this episode of The Federalist Radio Hour to discuss current American cultural debates like the positives and negatives of socialism, feminism, and The Enlightenment.

Young describes her experience moving from Russia to the U.S. as a teenager and how it has shaped her view of socialism.

“I think there is a perfectly legitimate debate about what degree of social safety net we want to have,” she said. “I think that’s a completely different debate from the debate of totalitarianism vs. liberal democracy.”
