The Taliban-supporting father of the terrorist who killed 49 people at an Orlando nightclub in June showed up at a campaign event for Hillary Clinton on Monday night in Kissimmee, Florida — just 20 miles from the site of the attack.
“Hillary Clinton is good for the United States versus Donald Trump, who offers no solutions,” Seddique Mateen, father of Omar Mateen, told reporters hours after refusing to comment earlier about the terror attack his son carried out in Orlando.
During the interview with WPTV, Seddique Mateen held up a sign praising the former secretary of State for telling “the truth about Benghazi,” referring to the terror attack on a U.S. consulate in Libya in which four Americans were killed.
The banner also praised her stance on gun control — a statement laden with irony, as the club Omar Mateen targeted was a gun-free zone.
As a member of the Democratic Party, Seddique Mateen said he was invited to attend the campaign event, where he was spotted sitting behind Clinton, waving a small American flag.
Seddique isn’t the only member of the Mateen family who favored the Democratic nominee. A friend said the terrorist Omar Mateen favored Hillary Clinton.
The Clinton campaign is reportedly trying to distance itself from Seddique Mateen.
