In Iceland, 98 percent of unborn children who are diagnosed with Down Syndrome are aborted. In the United States, 67 percent of children who have the genetic disorder are killed before they can take their first breath.

In a recent interview with The Federalist, Rep. Cathy McMorris-Rodgers (R-Wash.), who has a child with Down syndrome, urged others to celebrate every child’s potential.

“Let’s celebrate what every person has to offer…let’s be on the side of potential and possibility,” she said. “No matter who they are. No matter where they come from. We want to be on the side of doing everything we can so that people can live their version of the American dream.”
