John Adams, who is also a distant relative of mine, wrote in an 1813 letter to Thomas Jefferson that the general principles that united the founders were the ‘general principles of Christianity,'” The Federalist’s Brianna Lyman said on Fox News at Night. “When the Constitution was ratified, several states had religious oath requirements. You had to be a Christian or a protestant, you had state-funded churches, and so all of this shows that it is indisputable that Christianity built the moral and political framework that has guided this country, and we do not have to rewrite history so that modern secularists get to feel included.”
