You really have to admire the chutzpah of the hacks running the left-wing rag known as Politico. After spending years enabling Democrat lawfare against Donald Trump and Republicans, the outlet now has the gall to whine that the bill for their political buddies’ authoritarian tactics may finally be coming due.
Courtesy of Managing Editor Jack Blanchard (with “help” from others), the little meltdown was on full display in Thursday’s edition of “Politico Playbook,” which focused (in part) on President Trump’s recently announced plan to nominate Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche to the position permanently.
Blanchard started off his “analysis” by practically slobbering over Senate GOP loser Thom Tillis and his willingness to be a potential “roadblock” against Blanche’s nomination. Assuming readers are able to get past that part without hurling, they’re then greeted with a barrage of gaslighting about the Trump Justice Department.
In pointing out Blanche’s role in overseeing the DOJ’s recent charges against former FBI Director James Comey, the Politico editor hypothesized that “Blanche’s decision to seek new charges — three weeks after becoming Acting AG — is thought to have been a key factor in convincing Trump to offer him the job full-time.” He further attempted to push Democrats’ narrative that Trump is on a “revenge tour” by characterizing prospective lawbreakers unsuccessfully prosecuted by former Attorney General Pam Bondi as Trump’s “political enemies,” and their charges as “flims[y].”
Far from finished, Blanchard claimed that “Bondi already moved the bar a long way.” He then cited remarks from Politico’s so-called “legal ace” Josh Gerstein, who dutifully contended that “During the Bondi era, many were stunned by the lengths to which the Justice Department was going to carry out Trump’s political vendettas.” Gerstein also surmised that Blanche’s “intensified” accountability campaign since becoming acting AG “seemed like an overt campaign” to “audition[]” for the full-time job.
If Gerstein’s name sounds familiar, it should. He’s one of the crackpot reporters who published the leaked Supreme Court Dobbs draft opinion back in 2022 — a decision that ultimately resulted in left-wing anarchists descending on the homes of the conservative justices, a wave of death threats against those justices, and an assassination attempt against Justice Kavanaugh. He also attempted to give legitimacy to the media hatchet job against Justice Samuel Alito and benign flags flown at his residence.
Piling on Gerstein’s screed, Blanchard concluded his anti-Blanche hit piece by claiming the acting AG “has bent over backward to convince Trump of his loyalty.” “And at times,” he wrote, “his obsequiousness toward the president has been toe-curling.”
Contrary to the bubble that media dolts like these live in, the only thing that’s “toe-curling” about this entire debacle is how low Blanchard and his colleagues are willing to go to debase themselves for their Democrat allies.
Don’t think for a second that it’s some kind of accident that Politico didn’t acknowledge the Obama and Biden Justice Departments’ laundry list of abuses against Trump and conservatives in their “Playbook.” The decision to obfuscate any mention of the Democrat-led Russa collusion hoax or the targeting of concerned parents at school board meetings, faithful Christians, 2020 election Trump lawyers and protestors, Trump himself, and Republican members of Congress (to name a few) was a choice.
Politico is more horrified that the Trump DOJ is seeking accountability for these egregious abuses than they are at the abuses themselves. And they will gladly portray the president and his team as the power-hungry tyrants that Democrats are to cover them up.
Ethical Americans may wonder what kind of self-professed “news” organization would do such a thing.
Well, Politico would. And so would every other major media outlet that went along with and empowered Democrat prosecutors’ unprecedented weaponization of government to target their political opponents. It’s basically their MO at this point.
In case it wasn’t already obvious, what’s happening in most modern media today is not journalism. It’s straight-up left-wing propaganda designed to bolster the Democrat Party’s preferred narrative, plain and simple.
Politico Playbook is no exception to that standard. In fact, it is the standard — one that Americans would be all the wiser to treat like the flaming hot garbage that it is.
