If Hurricane Helene has taught us anything, it’s that the government loves to kneecap Americans’ ability to survive.

When the Category 4 storm made landfall on Sept. 26, it left a “war zone” of devastation in several states. The mountain towns dotting Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee, in particular, have suffered the brunt of the record-breaking natural disaster. Days after the storm, more than 130 people are dead, hundreds more are missing, thousands of families are displaced, and millions are without power or cell service.

Corporate media are already trying to paint the destruction and death that came with Helene as a product of the “climate crisis.” In reality, it is the government that is preventing people from getting the help they need by trying to ban the tools most effective for crisis response.

The caravans making their way across the U.S. to help communities in need aren’t made up of Teslas and other lithium-ion battery-powered cars susceptible to explosion when exposed to saltwater. The fuel-filled airplanes, trucks, and heavy equipment often vilified by green energy-obsessed politicians for generating carbon emissions are the only way the thousands of people stuck in ravaged cities like Asheville, North Carolina can receive rescue supplies, water, and food.

Similarly, freeing the people trapped by fallen trees likely isn’t happening with a battery-powered, carbon-friendly chainsaw, but a gas-powered one that is not easily compromised by floodwater or debris.

One of the best and only methods to dry out or cook when entire power networks are washed away by torrential downpours and storm surges like Helene’s is to use fuel-burning stoves. Unfortunately for Americans hoping to pad themselves against the consequences of calamities like this one, the Biden-Harris administration, aided by the corporate media, recently declared war against gas stoves.

Some seeking a source of warmth might opt for wood-fueled fireplaces and cooktops, but even chopping down local trees to feed those fires is complicated by federal and state red tape such as permits.

A gun with ample ammunition is the best way to protect yourself against crisis-induced threats like the pack of migrant looters roaming the Volunteer State. The Democrat-led government, however, routinely tries to encroach on and even strip you of your Second Amendment rights, putting you at grave risk of robbery if you possess the aid someone else affected by natural disaster values more than your life.

Even the masculine grit demonstrated by the man who hiked up 2,200 feet over 11 miles to check on his stranded parents or the father who trekked through 30 miles of flood debris to walk his daughter down the aisle at her wedding is under threat by a regime obsessed with demonizing male toughness.

The Biden-Harris administration’s lackadaisical response to the tragedy only proves that when it comes to natural disasters like flood, fire, and ice, Americans can’t and shouldn’t rely on the government and its Potemkin president to do anything about it. Not only are taxpayer-funded agencies and entities actively discouraging volunteers trying to help their friends, neighbors, and countrymen, but they have also reportedly threatened some of them with arrest.

Survival without power, water, or help for days on end is only possible with the tools and resources the authoritarians running the country actively try to ban.
