On this episode of The Federalist Radio Hour, Allison Schuster, a research assistant at Hillsdale College in D.C.’s Kirby Center, joins Culture Editor Emily Jashinsky to discuss how the “Law Firms That Raced To Defend Terrorists In Gitmo Leave Jan. 6 Defendants Out To Dry.”

“It’s amazing that to defend the same principle you claimed to espouse 15 years ago, now will get you harassed publicly and reputation ruined, doxxed. We saw what happened to Trump’s lawyers in Pennsylvania … anyone who tries to defend someone on the right is really sticking their neck out. And these people who said ‘this is so important, we’re going to do this for terrorists,’ it’s now too much of a risk,” Schuster explained.

Schuster said judges and prosecutors have “lectured” about and “mocked” defendants’ beliefs about the 2020 election.

“People are losing faith not only in the justice system but in the government, polls continually reflect that,” Schuster said. “And when you have criminal defense attorneys who aren’t zealously advocating on behalf of their clients and [you don’t have] prosecutors acting, you know, in good faith, not openly mocking the defendant’s beliefs, how can you not lose faith in the justice system? And when you don’t think truth is coming out in court, then people are held at the arbitrary power of whatever the court decides.”
