On this episode of The Federalist Radio Hour, authors Eddie Gallagher, a retired Navy SEAL Chief, and Andrea Gallagher join Culture Editor Emily Jashinsky and Senior Editor Christopher Bedford to discuss the new book, “The Man In The Arena: From Fighting ISIS to Fighting for My Freedom.”  The Gallaghers explain how their family navigated uncharted waters when Eddie was wrongly accused.

“It’s hard for people to sleep at night knowing the things that are going on right now in our country, our story being one of them,” Andrea said. “I understand that but it’s not okay to turn a blind eye to the injustice that’s taking place or act like our principles of due process and innocence until proven guilty.”

“Service members ho sign on the dotted line to serve and go over to fight wars, but then they come to their own homefront and we were more terrorized by our own government than we could ever have imagined possible,” she said.

The Gallaghers said the military justice system needs reform.

“We were surprised by it,” Gallagher said. “It wasn’t like watching ‘A Few Good Men’ or anything like that. There needs to be oversight. Somebody, an adult in the room to be like, ‘This is what you can and can’t do, what you’re doing is illegal’ but unfortunately, you don’t have any of that … It’s very incestuous, and it leads to a very toxic environment, especially when you are trying to fight for your life.”
