Dana Loesch On How To Encourage Critical Thinking About Tough Topics

On this episode of The Federalist Radio Hour, conservative talk radio host Dana Loesch joins Culture Editor Emily Jashinsky to weigh in on the evolution of media and how to encourage viewers, readers, and listeners to critically think about the messages they encounter.

Loesch described how she’s seen conservative commentary become more interesting and thoughtful in recent years.

“There was a period of time where it sort of felt like the right was kind of in the red meat wilderness … where everybody was kind of saying the exact same thing … and now I feel like we’re getting out of that where people are really being very aggressive critical thinkers and really exploring issues in really thought-provoking ways,” Loesch said.

To appeal to a broader audience Loesch said that people must be willing to let go of their own anger if because “there is a greater incentive to be graceless than not.”

“I don’t ever want people to finish listening to my program and walk away feeling either heavier or more depressed or with questions,” Loesch said. “I want them to walk away confident and feel informed, and feel like they’re in a great mood that they’ve been entertained and also feel like they’ve got enough information where they can make their own decisions on stuff.”

Loesch is the author of, Grace Canceled: How Outrage is Destroying Lives, Ending Debate, and Endangering Democracy.”
