During a press conference Sunday morning, President Trump announced the death of ISIS founder and leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

“Last night the United States brought the world’s number one terrorist leader to justice,” Trump said. “He died like a dog. He died like a coward. The world is now a much safer place.”

Trump continued to describe the night-time operation, which he said started two weeks ago and was executed on the night of October 26 in Syria.

U.S. special operation forces executed a dangerous and daring nighttime raid. In northwestern Syria and accomplished their mission in grand style. The U.S. personnel were incredible. I got to watch much of it. No personnel were lost in the operation, while a large numbers of Baghdadi’s fighters and companions were killed with him. He died after running into a dead-end tunnel, whimpering and crying and screaming all the way.

Baghdadi was wearing a suicide vest and when he reached the end of the “dead-end tunnel” he blew up himself and three children he brought with him.

Trump said U.S. forces confirmed Baghdadi’s body was the one mutilated at the end of the tunnel via DNA tests.

The Trump administration considers this mission a massive success as Baghdadi’s execution was one of the top national security priorities of his administration.
