3 Sickening Truths About Aborted Fetus Trafficking We Learned From The Daleiden Hearings

New details about the trafficking of aborted baby body parts emerged over the last two weeks, as witnesses and Planned Parenthood employees testified during hearings for undercover journalists David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt.

Daleiden and Merritt of the Center For Medical Progress face 13 felony counts of illegal videotaping and one count of conspiracy to illegally videotape after they released undercover videos in 2015, exposing Planned Parenthood’s trafficking in aborted baby body parts. The preliminary hearings held in San Francisco courtrooms last week were intended to determine if there is probable cause to charge Daleiden and Merritt, but ultimately revealed more about the violent crimes of abortion industry titans Planned Parenthood and StemExpress.

Daleiden told The Federalist that the hearings closed out with “incredible, unbelievably powerful sworn testimonies from two expert witnesses.” Here is more about what was revealed on the witness stand.

1. Beating Fetal Hearts Used In Research Are Harvested From Living Babies

Daleiden took the stand for the first time last week, where he testified that when he began investigating the fetal tissue harvesting industry, a focus of his research was a 2012 Stanford University study that used live human baby hearts provided by StemExpress, a human tissue procurement company. As part of the study’s methods, it used a Langendorff apparatus, which Daleiden said he discovered was “designed to keep fluid pumping through a heart that has been cut out of a body.”

Daleiden said he contacted Dr. Theresa Deisher, an expert in stem cell research with a doctorate in molecular and cellular physiology, who told him that “the fetus would have to be alive at the time the organs were harvested” for use in a Langendorff apparatus, Daleiden said.

Deisher also testified last Wednesday, the last day of hearings, where she said that a heart requires energy to relax after contracting, and if it contracts after it “runs out of energy,” it is unusable for research.

“It has to be beating and immediately go on the Langendorff,” Deisher said, or “be arrested in a relaxed state while it was still beating and subsequently put on a Langendorff.”

Deiser said it was very clear the abortionists’ tactics were intentional. “They want those babies coming out with beating hearts,” she said.

2. StemExpress Admitted to Selling Whole Fetuses And Attached Baby Heads

The CEO of StemExpress, who was infamously recorded in Daleiden’s undercover videos discussing her company’s lucrative partnership with Planned Parenthood, took the stand during the first week of hearings. She admitted that StemExpress provided completely intact embryos, fetuses, beating hearts, and babies with their heads still attached to their bodies to Stanford and other universities for research.

When the CEO of StemExpress, who can only be identified as Doe 12 due to a gag order insisted upon by the abortion industry’s lawyers, was first asked if StemExpress supplies fetal hearts to Stanford University, she hesitated, citing “targeting of researchers” as a reason not to answer. After the judge said the question was relevant, Doe 12 said, “Yes, we have provided heart tissue to Stanford.”

An undercover video featuring Doe 12 was played as evidence in court, in which she refers to babies pulled from the womb without losing limbs as “intact cases.” When asked to clarify what she meant, Doe 12 said she “did not deny StemExpress harvests and transfers unborn children from completely intact abortions.”

3. Abortionist Said Planned Parenthood Has Grossly Deficient Ethical And Medical Standards

Dr. Forrest Smith is on of the longest-practicing abortionists in the United States. He has performed anywhere from 30,000 to 50,000 abortions throughout his career, over the course of 50 years. Smith testified to the ways abortions performed at Planned Parenthood facilities put women at risk and were modified to result in live births.

Smith reviewed video footage presented at a Planned Parenthood conference, and testified that the methods demonstrated in the video would cause a “tumultuous labor” that would result in “fetal expulsion,” in which “the fetus comes out without any assistance from the abortion doctor, no instrumentation.”

Smith also testified that Planned Parenthood abortionists’ methods and drugs used allowed them to extract more intact organs, and that video evidence showed they used different standards in determining the death of a fetus.

Smith explained that just because an umbilical cord is clamped or the limbs are torn off, does not mean the fetus is dead. He said one Planned Parenthood abortionist who previously testified, Doe 9, “is having live births although she doesn’t know.” Doe 9 was relying on “lack of pulsation of the fetal cord” and “that’s not fetal demise,” he said.

Over the summer, the Senate Judiciary committee requested an update from the FBI and the Department of Justice on the federal investigation of Planned Parenthood and StemExpress, but Daleiden told The Federalist that they have not received any updates on the status of the case.

“I think people in authority realize that this is a really serious issue that goes to the core of who we are as Americans, and the equal protection of the law,” he said. “I’m very optimistic that we will hear soon from the Senate Judiciary committee.”

To those who may have not heard of him or of this case, Daleiden said he would tell them, “Planned Parenthood was hurting people, killing people, and selling people,” he said. “And we have the videotape evidence of it straight from their own mouths.”
