Two terrorists opened fire at a Christmas party Wednesday afternoon at a facility in San Bernardino, California, that assists individuals with developmental disabilitiesA total of 14 people were killed and another 21 one were injured during what is now being called the deadliest mass shooting in the U.S. since Sandy Hook.

When the news of an active shooter scenario first broke, reporters, politicians, and progressive activists said a lot of really dumb things. Many speculated the violence was the work of right-wing activists. Others quickly measured the proximity of the shooting to the nearest Planned Parenthood clinic. And then there were the brilliant analysts who spent the day mocking anyone who dared offer a prayer for the victims and their familes. Law enforcement authorities now suspect the violence was part of a coordinated terrorist attack.

Some politicians, like the anti-gun like Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), immediately blamed the Second Amendment. One journalist reporting from the scene suggested that the word “Christmas” may have triggered the killing spree from the otherwise peaceful gunman and his gun-bearing spouse, who by the way had stocked their home with at least a dozen improvised explosive devices.
