Stephen Walt is a leading thinker in American foreign policy and a professor at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. On this episode of the Federalist Radio Hour, Walt discusses the foreign policy establishment’s stubborn commitment to “liberal hegemony,” and the surprising similarities between Obama’s and Trump’s foreign policy leaders. Ben Domenech also asks him about military power, Trump’s favorability for Israel, and whether we should be concerned about China.
“There is a role for American power in certain circumstances and obviously at various points in the past century American power has been critical, but you have to ask what American power can usefully accomplish and what are circumstances in which we are likely to make things worse?” he said.
Walt’s latest book is, “The Hell of Good Intentions: America’s Foreign Policy Elite and the Decline of U.S. Primacy.”
