“Politico’s real frustration [about lack of mass protests against the National Guard in D.C.] is that mass protests on the left have a habit of devolving into some kind of chaos. And chaos is useful for two reasons, right? (1) Chaos would help affirm that phony narrative that the National Guard actually causes more harm than good, but (2) chaos would actually allow the left to deflect from the fact that Washington D.C.’s leaders have … resigned themselves to the idea that crime is inevitable. That’s why D.C. turned into the crime-ridden city it is today, because [leaders] said ‘There’s nothing we can do,'” The Federalist’s Brianna Lyman said on Fox News at Night. “Donald Trump comes in and says, ‘What are you talking about? A little leadership can go a long way.’ [Trump] deploys the National Guard, [and D.C.] went seven straight days without a single homicide. And what that proved is that crime is not inevitable. Crime is the product of weak and spineless leadership given to you by Democrats. Unfortunately for Politico, they don’t know how to deflect away from that [success]. So they want mass protests, they want chaos to take away from the fact that Donald Trump is proving real leadership works.”
