Mollie Hemingway recounts how Justice Kagan was reportedly “screaming” at Justice Breyer “not to accommodate” the conservative justices’ pleas to get the Dobbs dissent done quickly after the opinion leaked in May 2022 — even as the conservative majority faced death threats.
The liberal justices “really behaved in a very inappropriate fashion,” Hemingway said in an interview with Martha Zoller while discussing her new book, Alito: The Justice Who Reshaped the Supreme Court and Restored the Constitution. “People talk about how well [the justices] get along with each other. But it’s kind of amazing they get along at all with each other given that these [liberal] justices were willing to have these people’s lives threatened.”
