Capital punishment acknowledges both the existence of objective evil and human government’s responsibility to execute justice. To conflate it with the killing of the innocent is reprehensible.
Capital punishment isn’t vengeful or vindictive, it’s a repayment of justice proportional to the most shockingly evil crimes.
The hard truth is that we’re the reason kids (and their parents) are out of control, and we’re far happier to blame and shame parents than examine what’s going wrong in so many families.
Our efforts to diagnose and ‘rehabilitate’ prisoners do not bring about greater justice and reform. In practice, they achieve the opposite.
