On this episode of The Federalist Radio Hour, Tom Rogan, foreign policy and national security writer for the Washington Examiner, joins Culture Editor Emily Jashinsky to discuss the growing unrest in Cuba over the island’s communist regime.
Rogan attributed the Cuban people’s “general sense of malaise” to a “decrepit economy” that doesn’t “allow for the importation of basic medicines that with which people are able to live but without, they suffer greatly and even die.”
“I think also that the shortages of basic food staples even and that factor, just suffering across the range of social health and economic factors, bubbling out onto the surface as people saw the government continuing to preach its now many decades-long narrative that America is to blame for everything and the revolution is actually glorious even though you and your family are suffering,” he said.
Corporate media and others have amplified the narrative that the U.S. is responsible for the problems in Cuba but Rogan says that’s simply not the case.
“The fact that so many people seem to buy into this propaganda notion that it’s just evil America to blame is just devoid of logic,” Rogan said.
