On this episode of The Federalist Radio Hour, Matthew Garnett, host of the podcast “In Layman’s Terms” joins Executive Editor Joy Pullmann to discuss the New York Times’s “Nice White Parents” podcast and the effects of racial stereotyping on parenting, education, ideology, and more.

“We are erasing the concepts and modes of life that gave that give rise to our ability to be free, happy people. And part of that project is the people who created this podcast,” Pullmann notes.

Garnett and Pullmann also explore if the basis of the arguments in the “Nice White Parents” podcast that seemingly take issue with race might actually be more than skin-deep.

“It is also important to keep in mind when we talk about whiteness and blackness that they’re also talking about ideology,” Garnett said. “It’s not just that these kids with white bodies are coming into our school. There is the white ideology, Western liberal capitalism, that is coming into our schools.”

While Pullmann and Garnett both agree that this race-based movement has the potential to turn into a much bigger problem when ideology comes into play, Garnett anticipates that the revolutionary tendencies demonstrated by it will not last forever.

“I’m very hopeful that enough people- across all socio-economic lines, racial groups, whatever- I’m very hopeful that they see this, and that there’s enough of it going on that, when push comes to shove, it’s gonna be okay. It’s gonna be okay,” he said.
