It was a watershed moment this week for established media when the New York Times changed their front page headline after outrage from an online Twitter mob. Does their growing subscriber base change who the paper of record is beholden to?
On this episode of The Federalist Radio Hour, Saagar Enjeti, The Hill’s Chief Washington Correspondent and co-host of The Hill TV, joins Culture Editor Emily Jashinsky and Producer Madeline Osburn to discuss major shifts in media, the political pushback against Silicon Valley, Taylor Swift’s banal political takes, and the boycotting of SoulCycle and Equinox.
“I don’t think there is anything wrong with [The New York Times] saying ‘Yeah, we’re a progressive paper. We have progressive subscribers’… but they can no longer tell us the now-revealed lie that objectivity is what their ultimate goal is,” Enjeti said.
