Michael Brendan Dougherty, senior writer at National Review, explores the ideas of identity, nationalism, and our cultural origins in his new book, “My Father Left Me Ireland: An American Son’s Search For Home.” Domenech and Dougherty discuss fatherhood, Irish traditions, and what it means to be a conservative in today’s Republican party.

“What I’m trying to vindicate is the spiritual nation,” Dougherty said. “That there is a tradition of nationhood that exists in each nation and that there is a duty to hand it on.”
