Elan Journo is director of policy research at the Ayn Rand Institute and an expert on American foreign policy. In his new book, “What Justice Demands: America and the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict,” Journo explains the nature of the conflict in the Middle East and why America should ultimately support freedom and freedom-seekers.

“Part of what’s needed is to step away from our moral assumptions about this [conflict],” Journo said. “The underdog assumption, this framing of the issue, doesn’t make sense. You could be weak and wrong. You could be powerful and right…we need to get away from these David and Goliath metaphors.”
